About this bed
The ASHF is a solid oak bed frame that brings genuine natural material into the bedroom. Unlike oak veneer or MDF finishes, solid oak improves with age — gaining character, deepening in tone, and developing a patina that factory finishes cannot replicate. A bed that can be sanded and refinished rather than replaced, making it a truly long-term investment.

Questions
Why Solid Oak?
Solid oak is one of the most enduring furniture materials used in British homes. It is dense, hard-wearing, and resistant to everyday knocks in a way that softwoods and engineered materials cannot match. Oak furniture is commonly passed between generations — it is not unusual for a well-maintained oak bed frame to outlast the house it was bought for. The natural grain variation means no two frames are identical.
- Is this frame made from solid oak or oak veneer? Solid oak — not veneer, not MDF with an oak finish. The frame is constructed from real oak throughout.
- Can solid oak be refinished if it gets damaged? Yes — one of the key advantages of solid wood over veneer or painted finishes is that surface marks and scratches can be sanded back and the frame re-oiled or re-waxed.
- Will the colour vary from photos? Yes — natural oak grain varies between pieces. The frame you receive will be unique, with its own grain pattern and natural colour variation.
- What size is available? The ASHF is currently available in Double (4’6″, 135cm wide × 190cm long).
- What mattress types are compatible? All mattress types — the slatted base works with sprung, memory foam, latex, and hybrid mattresses.
- How long does delivery take? Free UK mainland delivery, typically within 3 working days of dispatch.

Style Notes
Natural oak suits a wide range of bedroom schemes — Scandi-inspired rooms with white walls and linen; country and farmhouse styles with warm textiles; and contemporary rooms where the warmth of real wood offsets cooler architectural finishes. It pairs well with other natural materials: stone, linen, wool, and leather.
