Questions
- Is the AUCKLAND made from solid pine or pine veneer? Solid pine — the frame is constructed from real pine throughout, not veneer or MDF with a pine finish.
- Can this frame be painted or stained? Yes — solid pine takes paint and stain well. Sand lightly before painting for best adhesion. This is a significant advantage over veneered furniture, which cannot be repainted reliably.
- What sizes are available? The AUCKLAND is available in Double (4’6″, 135cm) and King (5’0″, 150cm).
- What mattress types work with this frame? All types — the slatted base is compatible with sprung, memory foam, latex, and hybrid mattresses.
- Will the pine colour change over time? Yes — natural pine darkens and warms in tone over time, especially with exposure to light. Many people consider this part of its appeal.
- How long does delivery take? Free UK mainland delivery, typically within 3 working days of dispatch.
More details
Solid Pine in UK Bedrooms
Pine is one of the most widely used furniture woods in British homes — lighter in colour and weight than oak, with a warm, slightly rustic character that suits country kitchens, farmhouse-style bedrooms, and Scandi-inspired spaces alike. Solid pine is a sustainable softwood that takes paint and stain well, giving you the option to change the colour of the frame in future without replacing it.
