Questions
Who Is This Bed For?
The KIWI is ideal for buyers who value natural materials and understated design over contemporary upholstered beds. It suits the farmhouse aesthetic, Scandi interiors with white walls and wooden floors, and classic country house style. Its simple construction also makes it a practical choice for children's rooms or guest bedrooms where the bed should fade into the background rather than dominate.
What does 'Shaker style' mean?
Shaker refers to a minimalist furniture tradition characterised by clean straight lines, simple profiles, and honest construction — no ornate carving or unnecessary detail. It is one of the most versatile and enduring furniture styles in British bedrooms.
Which finishes can I choose?
Natural pine, white painted, and grey painted. Select the finish alongside the size — each is stocked separately, so availability can differ between finishes.
Is pine a durable material for a bed?
Yes — solid pine is more durable than MDF or pine-effect finishes. It takes knocks without delaminating and can be sanded and refinished if damaged. A solid pine bed frame will typically outlast any flat-pack equivalent.
Can I change the finish later?
Yes — a natural pine frame can be painted or stained at any time. White or grey painted frames can be repainted with appropriate wood paint.
Does the KIWI need a base board or slats?
No — the KIWI includes a mesh base as standard. No additional slats or base board are required. Mattress sits directly on the mesh.
Is Free UK mainland delivery included?
Yes — free UK mainland delivery on all Wholesale Beds products through Onlineand.direct.
